Best of the Best
It's funny but I sort of forgot about the whole decade ending in January 2009 not 2010 despite reading all of those "Best of the Decade" lists. I guess I just forgot 'em. Those lists that make you tear your hair out until you realize you have precious little hair to be tearing out, mate, so wise up and leave it be.
To remind myself, here are some top lists for the year & decade of music, films and books.
Music
Paste Magazine's Best Albums of the DecadeAll Songs Considered: The Decade's 50 Most Important Recordings
Film
David Denby's Best Films of the DecadeThe New Yorker's Best Films of 2010
Metacritic's Most highly rated films of the decade
Books
New York Times Best 10 Books of 2010The New York Times 100 Notable Books of 2010
The Globe & Mail's Top 100 Canadian Books
Web
Coudal is still one of the sites I visit most often and it's been that way since I had a decent Internet connection. I kind of think of them as inventing the "Curated Web". With their Fresh Signals, Layer Tennis and Museum of Online Museums it feels like they were blogging and twittering before those were words (if they in fact are words). The New York Times remains the gold standard for the Web. With content deep as it is wide you could spend hours and still just skim the recently added stories.
